Project Brief
The client is an expat with a demanding job, living on her own in a generous semi-detached home with a deep garden. The house was sound but dated. After long days at work, she wanted a place to come to rest, take care of herself, and unwind in her own home. She also wanted space to invite friends over and host them properly.
Our Solution
We built around her two needs: rest and gathering. Downstairs, the small utility space next to the kitchen was pulled in and absorbed, turning the kitchen into a generous live-in space where she can cook with friends. The living room was opened up around her books, and the oversized garage was reworked into a new utility room and home gym. Upstairs, a bedroom became a yoga space, and a second bathroom was added by the two guest rooms, so she can host without compromise. And outside, the garden was redesigned as a wellness garden with a sauna and a pond, in collaboration with Van Wijk Hoveniers and Dutch Luxury Garden Concepts.
